Frequently Asked Questions

So what exactly is the aim of this site?

Pijoo is a community driven site that allows you to share interesting articles, images, videos and more, from around the web, and vote them up or down depending on which you like, and which you don't. This provides a stream of fresh content for everyone, while getting your favourite content noticed.

What are these voting buttons for?

Each post is given a score based on user votes, and this affects how it ranks on the site. Click the green tick if you like it, and the score goes up, or click the red cross and the score goes down. The same applies for comments except the voting buttons are smaller. When users vote on posts or comments, the author gains or loses 'karma' points, which reflect how popular a member is based on their contribution.

What is karma, and how do I get more?

Karma, like on many voting sites, represents the accumulated popularity of a user's submissions and comments. You can gain karma by submitting popular posts, or by commenting on other people's posts.

How do I submit a post?

Click the green 'Submit' link on the menu at the top of the page. You will be taken to a form where you can add a link, a title, and a description, as well as tag and categorize your submission.

Do I need an account to submit, comment, and vote?

Yes, but joining is free and easy.. it only takes about 3 clicks to sign-up and start posting.

Didn't Pijoo used to be a blog site? What happened?

While we still offer many of the same features for bloggers (such as sharing posts), the blog directory has been dropped in favour of a stronger emphasis on actual content. The old site was also eaten by lions, so we had to start again.

What is the archive for? How/why are posts archived?

Older posts which didn't get many votes are sometimes deleted automatically to keep the quality up, and the database small. Popular posts are archived to protect them from deletion, either automatically, or by the Administrator. You can view the archived posts by clicking 'Archive' on the menu-bar.

I've found a bug/exploit/problem with the site. What should I do?

Send a private message to Brett, with as much information as possible. We'll fix it and maybe even give you some free karma.

I got banned, what can I do?

We will only ban you if we feel your actions are a threat to the site, or the community. This is usually due to a breach of the TOS, running scripts, or spamming. We do make mistakes, and if you feel you've been banned in error, you can contact support to request re-activation.
